What is Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite Clay is a sedimentary clay; it is a highly adsorbent medium – this means that it is capable of adsorbing many times its weight/volume in water.
Bentonite Clay is composed of volcanic ash. The biggest source of Bentonite Clay is found in Fort Benton, USA. Bentonite Clay is also known as Montmorillonite Clay, which stems from the region of France called Montmorillon, where the clay was first discovered. Today the clay is mined mostly in the USA, France, and Italy.

What does Bentonite Clay do?

As Bentonite Clay is a highly adsorbant mineral it makes an excellent face mask, body treatment and bathing agent.
When mixed with water it swells up and becomes porous. This process causes it to become electrically charged, drawing out toxins from the skin which can then be washed away.
Bentonite Clay can be found in many beauty products.

Suggested Use

For oily skin, mix 1 tablespoon with a little water to create a thick paste and apply to the face and neck, avoiding sensitive areas. After 15-20 minutes rinse with warm water, dry and apply moisturiser. Repeat 1-2 times per week to help maintain a healthy complexion. For problem areas, you may need to double the amount used. Our Bentonite Clay is mined, passed under large magnets and then milled to the correct particle size. The material isn’t cleaned by washing at any part of the process.
